This
vehicle drives really very well on its all terrain tyres, and has a top
speed above the national speed limit. The gearbox has 5 gears making it
easy to drive on the motorways, as well as around towns.
It would
ideally suit a gardener or tree surgeon, who does not mind chucking
things in the back or driving up close to a hedge, or over rough
ground, as will take quite a pounding.
The rear load area has chequer plate on the floor, and with the alloy canopy makes for a huge load area.
200tdi
engines have proven to do quite high miles in road going Discovery's of
the same age, so you should have no worries with it, and really suited
this type of vehicle.Note: this is a genuine defender 200tdi, not a
modification on an earlier truck, and are one of the most sort after
engines.
The engine cooling has had the viscous fan replaced with a Kenlowe style fan which switches on only when needed saving fuel.
The Diff Lock is in full working order. Has recently had new fuel tank, hazard switch and bonnet release cable.
In
the photo's can be seen a few minor points buyers need to be aware of
as the vehicle is not mint which reflects the price, these are things
one can live with.
Both driver and passenger seats are worn, but do not affect the comfort in anyway.
The passengers door needs some work, although it does shut and lock which is the main thing.
Bulkhead is not perfect, but has been made good where possible, this is very common on Land Rover Defenders.
Chassis could do with waxing at some point.
Bodywork has dents in it, like the roof - but does not affect performance or working life, and gives it lots of character, also makes you less worried about adding more.
