Now in it's 4th generation, the Land Rover Discovery remains one of the most popular Land Rover's on the market today.
The Land Rover Discovery was introduced into the United Kingdom in 1989, and was powered with the new 200Tdi diesel engine. Also available were a 3.5, and then later on, a 3.9 litre V8 version. The worst of the bunch was the underpowered 2 litre Mpi petrol engine option.
In 1998, Land Rover launched the Land Rover Discovery Series 2, and along with it came an awesome five cylinder engine - the TD5. The Discovery also got traction control and hill descent control.
In 2004 came the Land Rover Discovery 3, or LR3 as it was known in North America. This was the first time Land Rover had built the Discovery with a monocoque construction instead of the usual ladder chassis. It was also the debut for Land Rover's awesome Terrain Response Control.
In September 2009, the latest Discovery was launched - the Land Rover Discovery 4, or LR4.
